Sir – Further to the recent articles, (Report, June 9) South Hinksey Parish Council has been lobbying the Highways Agency to improve safety on the A34 between the Hinksey interchange and North Hinksey for many years.
The northbound carriageway is elevated in this section above the southbound greatly increasing the risk that vehicles could roll on to the other carriageway. This section of road remains a 70mph limit which further increases the risk.
We would like to see an immediate reduction in the speed limit to 50mph as has been recently implemented northbound past the Botley junction followed by the installation of a crash barrier on the upper northbound carriageway to improve safety on a very dangerous section of road.
Sarah Balaam, Vice Chairman, South Hinksey Parish Council
