The one certainty life holds for us all is death. It is not a pleasant thought, I know, but something we all need to remind ourselves of on occasion.

While many people, on their demise, are happy to be cremated, many others are not, and the absence of a local cemetery where they can be buried can be a cause of concern for those who wish to have a grave that can be visited, and which also helps the grieving process.

How sad then to read that of the three suggested possible sites for new graveyards, two have already generated a negative response.

Leisure facilities are, of course, a necessary and important part of local life, as are considerations regarding potential traffic problems, but I do wish that such opponents would look beyond their own particular interests and perspectives and think of the needs of the wider community.

Whatever they may feel now, and whatever final decisions are made as to the location, of a new graveyard, there will come a time when the very proposed facility they are objecting to, is something they will need to take advantage of, both for themselves and their families.
