IN YOUR issue of May 17, Mr Diment complains that Councillor Robins has left the last word out of “the pot calling the kettle black”, which he puts down to political correctness.
Mr Diment is 270 years out of date. Henry Fielding in his Shamela (1741) has: “O! What fine times when the kettle calls the pot.”
