I WRITE regarding the item about abortion (Shocking Figures, Oxford Mail, June 3).
Steve Jack’s remarks about the latest abortion figures contained several questions. I would like to respond to his final one, which asked “if we can do this to the most vulnerable, defenceless of our humankind (and not be shocked), what does this say about us as a society?”
An answer could be that of Mother Teresa of Calcutta who said “It is a poverty that a child must die so you can live the way you wish.”
Abortion has caused more lives lost than those of the two world wars combined and Mr Jack is correct in suggesting we now have abortion on demand. The rising statistics prove it.
The silence on this continuing loss of life, however, remains deafening.
