EIGHT years after it was launched in response to the invasion of Iraq, Oxford’s annual march of faiths is set to attract up to 1,000 people with one message – peace.
All faiths are invited to Tuesday’s march through the city, which was launched by religious leaders in response to the 2003 invasion.
Jews, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Hindus will walk from the Oxford Synagogue in Richmond Road to the Central Mosque in Manzil Way via St Mary the Virgin Church in High Street.
Last year about 600 people took part, and it is hoped up to 1,000 people will join the walk from 6.30pm. Dr Hojjat Ramzy, one of the organisers, said: “It is important because it is all about peace and integration.”
The walk will be followed by an interfaith pilgrimage and worship study day for county schools at Dorchester Abbey on Wednesday.
