Yet again Oxford City Council has shown its contempt for the wishes of thousands of Oxford taxpayers who do not want an Olympic-style pool at Blackbird Leys.

The people of the estate do not want it, and people who use Temple Cowley Pool want that to remain open.

The council should remember that it is we tax payers who are paying their allowances and expenses, and we expect them to listen to the people who they are supposed to be representing. There seems more than a little gamesmanship in the way that the meeting was hurriedly brought forward to an inappropriate time, not allowing families to arrange childcare, to get home from work, or to arrange time off work to voice their opinion against this travesty of democracy.

I myself only found out about the meeting via an email the day before it was due to be held, and therefore was unable to attend this charade.
