DORIS O’Malley, a well-known florist and greengrocer in Kidlington, has died aged 93.
She ran O’Malleys Fruiterers in The Parade for 26 years with her husband, Patrick.
Mrs O’Malley, who was born in Wolverhampton, ran pubs in Birmingham with her first husband, Victor Pemberton, with whom she had two children, Max and Alan. After Victor’s death in 1951, she married Patrick O’Malley, pictured with her above, and had a daughter, Sheila.
After retiring from the Kidlington shop in 1987, she moved to London to live near her daughter.
The funeral service was held at Mortlake Crematorium.
Her son, Alan, who lives in Bicester, said: “Her overriding belief was in the value of hard work. She was generous and helpful to others and had a keen sense of humour.
“Although a dedicated business person, she held her family in high esteem and always encouraged her children in their lives.”
