A BURST water main left hundreds of homes without water in Oxfordshire yesterday morning.
The burst pipe in Glympton Road in Stonesfield affected houses across a large swathe of the county, including parts of west Oxford, villages around Chipping Norton, Witney and Woodstock. Homes were without water for about 12 hours.
Bottled water was handed out at pubs in Wooton, Stonesfield and Combe, as Thames Water worked to repair the damage.
Thames Water spokesman Amy Dutton told residents: “We are sorry to those customers affected and we worked as fast as possible to get everyone’s water back.”
The burst caused water pressures around the county to drop.
It was fixed shortly after 1pm, but many homes faced water shortages for a further two hours.
