A JAILED fraudster has been given a stay of execution in his bid to stop his home. being repossessed.

Kevin Willington, from Buckland, near Faringdon, was jailed for five years at Oxford Crown Court last month after being convicted on 25 fraud charges.

The 55-year-old took out an advert in a national newspaper to trick two businessmen out of more than £145,000 by conning them into investing in non-existent ATM cash machines.

In an unrelated matter, Willington was back at the Oxford court building on Tuesday for a civil hearing against his mortgage company Amber Homeloans Ltd.

The North Yorkshire-based lender had obtained a warrant for possession of Willington’s home but Recorder Charles Harris gave the defendant three weeks to appeal.

Amber had been seeking a handover date on which it can physically take control of the property, but Willington is expected to go to the Court of Appeal to challenge the initial ruling.

The two sides could resolve the case in private or back at the court in three weeks’ time.
