OXFORD: Broadcaster Melvyn Bragg will give a free lecture next week on the impact of the King James Bible, as part of events to mark the 400th anniversary of its publication. The lecture, at 6pm next Wednesday, is at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, in High Street.
On Thursday, July 7, again at the church at 6pm, Lord Bragg will discuss whether the King James Bible is still relevant with A History of Christianity TV presenter Diarmaid MacCulloch, in a discussion chaired by the university’s Chancellor, Lord Patten.
Tickets for the debate cost £10 and are available online at theology.ox.ac.uk
