A DRIVER was found dead in his car in a ditch yesterday.
Police were called to Brook Street, Benson, shortly before 2.30am, when another driver spotted the vehicle, a French-registered Peugeot 206.
Insp Andy West, of Thames Valley Police, said: “A member of the public called to say they had seen a vehicle in a ditch on the Benson to Ewelme road.
“Officers found the car and found that the male driver was dead. He has not yet been identified.”
The road, left, remained closed until about 10am while traffic accident investigators from Abingdon roads policing department tried to establish the cause of the crash.
Insp West added: “We are trying to find out if another vehicle was involved in the accident and would like to hear from drivers who may have seen something because they were on that stretch of road.
“It’s difficult to know how long the car had been in the ditch before we were alerted.”
He said a post mortem examination would be carried out to establish how the driver died.
