HAVING visited the exhibition for the proposed development of the former community centre at Barnes Road, Cowley, I must express my disappointment at the very small amount of space allocated for community use.

At least two thirds of the ground rooms are allocated for the charity Emmaus for showrooms and workshop facilities.

The rest of the ground floor accommodates a two-bedroom flat and escape staircase for the above flats.

As a member of the old Cowley Community Centre for a number of years, I consider the amount of space allocated for community use an insult, especially as the whole of this site was previously for that purpose.

In my view, there should be a re-think. People in Cowley deserve better.
