FOOTBALLERS in Marston have raised £500 for the Oxford Children’s Hospital by auctioning off a signed shirt.
The idea was the brainchild of Oxford City Under 14s team, who dedicated every goal of the season to the children being treated at the nearby hospital with a special salute.
The big-hearted teenagers organised for a first team shirt to be signed by every member of the first team, the coaching squad and the under 14 team.
All money will go towards making life more comfortable for children who are being treated at the hospital.
Coach Manuel Perez-Padron said the idea had all been down to the boys themselves.
He said: “They came up with the master plan which aimed to show admiration and earn the support from our ‘special neighbours’, all the children fighting for life every day at the children’s hospital.
“They asked the club for a first team official shirt.”
