NEW mum Chalasia Brown was “over the moon” when her son Ceitiece Mane was named Baby of the Year.

The three-month-old beat competition from hundreds of other tots to be crowned Oxford Mail Baby of the Year 2011.

His family will now enjoy a three-day trip to Disneyland in Paris, a trophy and a framed photo.

Miss Brown, 20, said: “I’m just a bit shocked really, I still can’t believe it.

“I never thought we would win, but I’m so excited about it all now. I’m over the moon.”

The first-time mum she said she was loving her new role as a stay-at-home mother and had even managed to get used to the lack of sleep.

She celebrated with Ceitiece’s dad Lance Mane, 24, at their home in Wytham Road, Oxford, last night.

She added: “It’s brilliant, I enjoy being his mum every day.

“He is very alert for such a young baby. He likes to be involved in everything and he’s such a happy baby – everyone says he is. It’s just great to have him as my son, he’s everything I could have wished for.”

Hundreds of cute kids and tiny tots lined up to have their pictures taken in the Matalan Store, Cowley, last month.

Ceitiece, who polled 308 votes, was also the winner for children aged up to nine months.

Winner in the 10- to 18 month-old category with 104 votes was Mirza Baig from Wantage, who is now 19 month old.

His mum Malgorzata Rojek said: “I just think he’s so attractive and I take lots of photographs of him, so I wondered how well he would do in a competition.

“He is a bit shy when he’s outside, but he’s fine when he’s at home.

“He’s a very good baby, I’ve never had any problems with him at all.”

The winner in the 19- to 36-month-old category with 70 votes was 21-month-old Sophia Boyles from Headington.

Her mum Kim Dowfon, 19, said: “She was in it last year too, but we didn’t win anything then.

“It’s nice, she’s a very active girl who loves running around.”

Miss Dowfon said it was a particularly special time, as Sophia would soon have a new sibling.

She said: “She is very excited about getting a brother or sister, she talks about it lots.”
