NEXUS COMMUNITY joined the Oxford National Apprenticeship Campaign.

As a part of the Oxford National Apprenticeship 100 in 100 Campaign, Nexus Community (a division of GLL) was recruiting for an apprenticeship position at Windrush Leisure Centre, in Witney.

Nexus Community manages sport and leisure centres across both Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire providing accessible, exciting and popular activities to local communities in partnership with local authorities.

The apprenticeship position is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to gain skills and knowledge to help them progress within the leisure industry.

Training will be provided by ICON Training, one of the leading training companies specialising in leisure operations, management and leadership with a track record of excellence.

Ben Border, Partnership Manager for Nexus, found the decision to offer an apprenticeship position as part of the Oxfordshire 100 in 100 Campaign an easy one.

“An apprenticeship at the Windrush Leisure Centre is a great opportunity for an individual to work at one of the largest leisure centres in West Oxfordshire.

“They will be exposed to all the different elements of the leisure industry and will be able to continue their personal development through the training opportunities that ICON Training offer.”

The apprenticeship position being offered by Nexus Community is for a Nexus Assistant at Windrush Leisure Centre.

The position will provide the successful applicant the opportunity to gain industry recognised qualifications such as National Pool Lifeguard Qualification including First Aid as well as gaining work experience in all aspects of the day to day running of the centre.

Nexus, in partnership with ICON Training, embraces the development and training of all staff and the opportunity to progress in different aspects of leisure is great varying from operations, management and customer service through to fitness and coaching.

ICON Training Regional Scheme Manager Richard West said: “Since we have started working in partnership with Nexus Community, we have put in place various training programmes with staff that range from Operations to Management and Fitness Based routes.
