The high cost of property in Oxfordshire means many young couples are opting to live with family to save money.

Kim Livesey and Tom Kidd moved in with Mr Kidd’s mother in Abingdon for six years before being able to afford their first home together.

Miss Livesey said: “The high property prices in Oxfordshire and the level of deposit required by mortgage lenders were making it impossible for us to afford a home of our own.”

The couple have now bought a two-bedroom property at Bloor Homes’ Folly Park View development in Faringdon.

Miss Livesey added: “We visited Folly Park View and were impressed but there were no homes available within our price range.”

Six months later, when more two-bedroom houses became available, they returned to the development and bought their first home. Folly Park View includes three and four-bedroom houses, with prices starting from £224,950.
