Fans of hit movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang can invest in a slice of the legend at Kiln Barn, near Henley.
In the 1968 film, Dick Van Dyke as inventor Caractacus Potts driving Chitty runs Truly Scrumptious, played by Sally Ann Howes, off the road into a duck pond.
Kiln Barn’s drive featured in the film and is directly opposite the pond in the hamlet of Russell’s Water.
The pond is one of several stops on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie tours.
The screenplay for the film was written by Roald Dahl and adapted from James Bond author Ian Fleming’s book which was published in 1964.
Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli produced the film, which also starred Lionel Jeffries.
Half a century on, the story is still as popular as ever, with a stage musical of the book running in London’s West End from 2002-2006.
Later this year, the first of three sequels by Millions author Frank Cottrell Boyce, Chitty Flies Again, is due for publication.
Kiln Barn includes four/five bedrooms, three bathrooms and four reception rooms.
The sitting room features an inglenook fireplace and there is also a family room with a wood-burner.
The property comes with gardens and a double garage and the gravel driveway has electric gates. Agents Savills say paddock land and stables are available by separate negotiation.
Tanya Blake, of Savills, said: “Actors Heather Ripley and Adrian Hall who played Caractacus Potts’ children Jemima and Jeremy in the film went back to Russell’s Water last year.
“They drove out of Kiln Barn in a replica of the Chitty car, which belongs to a friend of Kiln Barn’s owner.
“The property’s driveway and the duck pond opposite are a genuine piece of movie history and we expect plenty of interest in the house.”
Kiln Barn is available to rent, unfurnished, for £3,600 per month. Contact Savills on 01491 843002 or visit savills.com
