DREAMS and Greek mythology were just some of the inspirations behind the art of graduating Oxford Brookes University students.

Final pieces of work from art graduates at Brookes will be on show all week and range from sculptures and paintings to etchings and prints.

Among the artists is 23-year-old Cheryl Barrett, from Bristol, with her piece What Would it Mean if I Could See Your Dreams?

She said: “This was my interpretation of my research into dreams that I have done over the past year.

“I have been looking at reccurring dreams and what they mean.”

The third-year student used a recurring dream of her own, in which her hair and teeth fall out, to produce three prints and a metal sculpture.

She said: “I have loved studying art here at Brookes, it has been amazing. This has been something I have done since I was a child, so it was fantastic to come here and learn from such great tutors.”

Fellow third-year student Jade Rankin, 23, from Buckinghamshire, displayed her piece I Will Not Live Without You, I Will Not Try To Live.

She said: “My piece represents the Greek myths of Alcyone and Ceyx, who transformed themselves into birds to live forever.

“It is made of 850 completely knitted feathers, which I knitted over the course of six months.”

The art will be on display in the Richard Hamilton Building until Saturday.
