Finlay MacBurnie is a truly inspirational person. At 17, he has been through an ordeal after a motorcycle accident last October left him with horrific injuries. He is the epitome of bravery and has approached the ordeal with humility and humour.
His friends and neighbours have grouped together to fundraise for Finlay, buying him life-improving gadgets, including an electric wheelchair. ‘Big Society’ is a phrase that is too often used by politicians when words like ‘cuts’ would be much more appropriate. But what Finlay’s neighbours are doing is, we think, the true definition of our Mr Cameron’s ‘Big Society’ idea.
