I WRITE with reference to Clive Stone’s struggle for funding for an operation on his brain tumour (Oxford Mail, May 9).
I found it insulting that, on the opposite page, were listed some of the country’s richest people – with the likes of Richard Branson, Firoz Kassam and Sir Frank Williams – who between them have amassed huge fortunes.
This man, who has worked hard all his life and, probably like myself, is looking forward to taking it a bit easier, has been given the elbow by some faceless committee just when he needs some help.
You can bet that if it was Prince Charles, or somebody else of similar age and who has the money, they would be admitted to hospital straight away.
Best wishes Mr Stone.
