Sir – Without in any way exonerating dangerous cyclists (Letters, May 12) my experience as a daily cyclist in inner Oxford is that cyclists have as much to fear from pedestrians as vice versa.

Too often walkers, especially on roads with restricted car access like the High and Broad Street, seem to assume they are on a pedestrian walkway and, relying on sound rather than sight, stroll across in front of me without warning. No serious collisions yet, but . . . !
