A YEAR after Kingfisher School in Abingdon won a fabulous new seating area and improved sensory garden worth £7,500, the hunt is on for a new winning school in the Leadbitter/Oxford Mail School SOS competition 2011.

The Oxford Mail is joining forces with Abingdon-based Leadbitter for a third consecutive year to offer one lucky school a revamp to envy.

Whatever your school needs – we want to hear about it.

All you have to do is complete the entry form in today's Oxford Mail and explain, in no less than 300 words, the project you would like to see become a reality, and how it will benefit pupils and even the wider community.

Cliff Thomas, regional director of Leadbitter’s central construction division, said: “We are delighted to team up with the Oxford Mail once again.

“Our staff greatly enjoy working on the winning projects.”

We welcome supporting drawings, photographs and parent/pupil/teacher PTA statements. And we also want to know how the project will be sustainable.

The work must not need planning permission or major structural changes. The prize of £7,500 will cover materials and labour and will be carried out at a time to be agreed during the summer holidays.

The closing date for entries is Tuesday, June 7, and once all entries are received, 10 finalists will be selected.

They will then be invited to collect vouchers which will be printed in the Mail – the school which collects the most wins!

Last year’s winner, Kingfisher School, in Radley Road, which teaches youngsters aged two to 19 with severe and multiple learning difficulties, got a new outdoor covered area for pupils to sit and play, and a revamp for its existing sensory garden.

Jo Coady, promotions manager for Newsquest Oxfordshire, the Oxford Mail’s parent company, said: “We can’t wait to start receiving the schools’ ideas.”
