As a method of saving costs to protect local services, isn’t it time we considered having a unitary authority in Oxfordshire?
We have four district councils, a city council and a county council.
Since the county council provides 80 per cent of services, it seems very odd we have all these councils with their own management and administration structure.
There must have lots of duplication of work and I'm sure massive savings could be made.
Also, after reading about the goings-on in the Conservative Party and the attempted unseating of Keith Mitchell, isn’t it also time Oxfordshire has a elected mayor?
Keith was elected by 1,958 voters in Bloxham, yet there are approximately 633,500 residents (not all of voting age yet) in Oxfordshire who have no say in who leads the county council.
