ONE Oxford eaterie has gone all Psycho over our Alfred Hitchcock-inspired film festival.

The Big Bang restaurant in Walton Street has created a sausage modelled on one of cinema’s most infamous serial killers, Norman Bates.

The banger is created from pheasant stuffed with pear. In the film, Norman Bates admits his hobby is taxidermy.

The festival is co-organised by the Oxford Mail and the Phoenix Picturehouse cinema in Jericho.

Big Bang supervisor Fiona Parra said: “We have created this sausage to support the festival because we think it is important that all businesses in Jericho get behind each others’ initiatives.

“And Psycho, of course, was one of Hitchcock’s most famous films. I’ll certainly be going to see the film tomorrow evening.”

Suzy Sheriff, manager at the Phoenix: “So far this year’s festival has surpassed all expectations. We could not be happier. And everyone has been so enthusiastic.

“I am sure Mr Hitchcock himself would have been delighted by the number of people who have eagerly queued to be thrilled.”

Tonight’s screening at 9pm is Rear Window, starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly.

Jeremy Smith, entertainment editor on the Oxford Mail, added: “For a great many people, this is their favourite Hitchcock film. It’s chillingly voyeuristic, yet incredibly sexy at the same time. The verbal exchanges between Stewart and Kelly sizzle.”

Psycho will be shown tomorrow.
