YOUR report ‘Call for enterprise zone in Oxfordshire’ (Oxford Mail, May 3) was notable for the disappointing absence of any mention of the fact that the county recently became one of the first in the country to host a Local Enterprise Partnership.
The Oxford Mail reported on the announcement of the county’s success in being allowed to form an LEP in October last year and has since reported on the work of the group on more than one occasion.
It does therefore seem odd that such a key body should be omitted from a piece about enterprise in the county.
It is good to see that there is a hunger and a desire among local business people for growth and to make sure that the most is made of available Government assistance in encouraging that growth.
Let me assure you that the Local Enterprise Partnership shares that desire and wishes to see it harnessed in a cohesive way.
Dr Martin Dare-Edwards, Chairman, Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership
