The police keep extensive records on crimes committed.
Yet when challenged to demonstrate the effectiveness of CCTV cameras on the Cowley Road (Thursday’s Oxford Mail) they declined on grounds of cost.
How strange.
Could this be because the figures, in line with studies of CCTV trials carried out so far, show yet again that the cameras have no significant effect on levels of crime?
