The big question: where to go?
The Ministry of Justice has told the Oxford Mail it is looking for another property in the city to set up a half-way house for crooks and suspects.
A Bail Accommodation and Support Service (Bass) venue would house criminals jailed for burglary, theft and violent attacks, as well as those awaiting trial.
However, the ministry’s plan to open one in Headley Way stalled once neighbours got wind of the scheme.
Now the hunt is on for another spot, but one imagines it will be next to impossible to find a location where local people don’t feel exactly the same.
The fact of the matter is they need to live somewhere.
But is vital local people are kept in the loop about where these places are. You have a right to know.
