THE railway level crossing in Ascott-under-Wychwood will be closed to road traffic for three weeks from Saturday, May 14.
The closure is needed to allow Network Rail to install new crossing barriers and lay double track over the crossing and through the village’s station as part of the £67m Cotswold Line redoubling project.
During the closure, there will be no access to the village from the A361 Chipping Norton to Shipton-under-Wychwood road.
The level crossing will reopen on Monday, June 6, the same day that four miles of new railway track between Ascott and Charlbury and new platforms at the two stations are opened.
