MEMBERS of the village youth club directed their enthusiasm to helping others in 1968. They organised their annual fete and decided to give all the profits to the British Red Cross Society diamond jubilee anniversary fund.
In the first picture, from left to right, Katherine Bayliss, Karen King, Anne Scott Russell, Lindy Madds, Julie Ayres and Maureen King enjoy ice cream.
Pupils from the village primary school took a step back in time with a visit to Standlake Museum in 1984 and made butter by hand in the museum’s dairy, in the second picture.
Pub regulars held an annual barrel rolling contest through the village streets. The 1984 event, in aid of the Royal British Legion, was won by the Black Horse team, seen in the third picture clearing one obstacle on the course – bales of straw.
