TWO football teams featuring some of Oxford’s most vulnerable people have stormed to league success just 12 months after they were formed.

FC Streets Revolution won the BOBi Premiership Division A, while sister team The Revolutionaries were runners-up in the B league.

In another boost, the non-profit organisation behind the teams, Streets Revolution, has been given £3,000 by Oxford City Round Table. The club hosts a weekly football session for people over 16 who are using homeless services in Oxfordshire.

It aims to use football as a tool to engage marginalised sections of the community such as the homeless, mentally ill, ex-offenders and former drug addicts and provide them with a safe environment to play the game.

Founder and chairman Jon Regler said: “The success has been brilliant.

“We have seen them grow as players and people in the last year and this is the effect sport can have.

“It is amazing that the Round Table has taken on board the ethos of our organisation. We are very grateful for the donation and want to work with them in the future.
