THE Bishop of Oxford served cappuccinos, lattes and Americanos to people in the city to raise awareness of small-scale coffee farmers in Nicaragua.
The Rt Rev John Pritchard’s stint as a barista at AMT Coffee in Cornmarket Street yesterday marked the launch of Christian Aid Week on May 15.
The charity has helped farmers in the Central American country to work their way out of poverty.
Christian Aid helps producers organise themselves into cooperatives, and provides training so they can reach new customers and earn a better living.
It wasn’t the first time Bishop John had campaigned for the charity.
Last december he “twinned” his toilet with a loo in a remote African village to raise awareness of dangers faced by millions of people worldwide who do not have access to clean water.
He pledged £60, which went towards building a safe and clean toilet in Burundi.
