I would like to thank Louisa Weeks of the Oxford Bus Company for acknowledging concerns about the loss of the number 4 service from Rose Hill to the station (Oxford Mail, letters, May 2), though she does not explain why the change is to be permanent.
Could I suggest informing both the public and the bus company staff more widely?
On Sunday, I caught the number 4 from the station. There were dozens of leaflets with the old timetable, but none with any news of the changes, which were less than a week away.
I asked the driver about the transfer tickets which Ms Weeks mentions. He had not heard of these. Instead, he said I would have to buy two separate tickets: one into town, then another on to the station, because it would be two separate journeys.
His only suggestion was a day pass at £3.70, instead of the current £2. Unless this is better advertised there are likely to be a lot of surprised and rather cross passengers.
