was intrigued to read the letter from Alaric Rose et al (Oxford Mail, April 29). But what they did not tell you is that two of the signatories (Alaric Rose and Doug Williamson) are Cherwell district councillors representing the ward in which the proposed development is to take place.

Were they really so unaware of what was happening in their own ward that they did not know of the proposed development?

If they were aware of it, why did they not draw the development to the attention of affected residents before the deadline for objections expired?

Or did they only discover their opposition to the proposal once it became apparent it was a matter of public concern?

The Tories are not immune to criticism either. Maurice Billington (who, admittedly, represents a neighbouring ward) lives only a few doors away from the proposed development. Was he also unaware of the proposal?

If he was aware of it, why did he not draw it to the attention of his neighbours before the deadline for objections expired? Or does he support the decision by his party to tinker with the planning procedures that makes life easier for developers by keeping affected residents in the dark?
