Week in, week out, these pages invariably contain criticism, and occasionally praise, of our local authorities and the decisions they make.
It is easy to get complacent or disillusioned with politics, but it is important that people take just a few minutes today to have their say.
If we do not, we have little right to criticise those who have put themselves forward to make decisions that will affect every one of us.
Comments: Our rules
We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues. The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused.
Please report any comments that break our rules.
