SCHOOLCHILDREN have teamed up with an Eynsham artist to learn about animal conservation by painting a rhino.
The 6ft-long fibreglass rhino, one of several being produced for a county trail to promote conservation, will be painted with a design of wild flowers and endangered great crested newts, which are found in Oxfordshire.
The graphics will be designed by school children from John Blandy Primary School, Southmoor, and painted on to the 60kg sculpture by artist Sue Cook, pictured with seven-year-old Shannon Owen looking at one of the completed sculptures.
Ms Cook said: βItβs a lovely way of getting children involved in endangered species, animal conservation and environmental issues.β
She will paint the rhino in public at Oxford Castle, off New Road, over the next three weeks.
