PUPILS at Eynsham Ballet School delighted parents with a production of Sleeping Beauty in 1979. The title role was danced by Katie Chapman, the prince was Lisa James and the good and wicked fairies were Julie Taylor and Claire Bannister. Some of the cast are seen in the first picture.
A Festival of Queens took place at Oxford Town Hall in 1979 in aid of the National Children’s Home charity. Among the participants was Eynsham Primary School’s Sunny Smiles Queen, Samantha Hines, nine, preparing in the second picture for her big day.
In the third picture, primary school children take a dip in their refurbished swimming pool in 1985. Watching them are young people from the West Oxfordshire Youth Training Scheme, who had spent several weeks rebuilding the wall around the pool.
