Police today renewed an appeal for help in tracing a prisoner who has absconded from prison.

Jarreau Charles, 24, walked out of HMP Springhill in Grendon Underwood on Tuesday.

It is believed he was picked up by a white Ford Fiesta from Bicester later the same evening.

Det Chief Insp Rebecca Mears said: “Further to two previous appeals this week, the white Ford Fiesta which we believe picked Jarreau Charles up has now been found and seized by police in the Harrow area.

“This is a positive step forward in our inquiry. However, I am still asking for the public’s assistance in finding this man.

“Anyone who has seen him, knows where he is or where he may be, is urged to call the police. Your call will be treated confidentially.”

Jarreau Charles was serving an indeterminate sentence for false imprisonment and assault when he absconded from prison. It is believed Charles was in the Marsh Gibbon area earlier this week, although he does have connections to Oxord, London, Harrow, Pinner, and Hounslow.

Police said they believed there was a danger of Charles re-offending and would urge anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately and not to approach him as he may be violent.

Charles is black, 6ft 7in tall, stocky and has Chinese writing tattoos on his torso.

Det Chief Insp Mears also reiterated her warning about assisting an absconded prisoner. She said: “It is a criminal offence to knowingly assist or harbour an escaped prison or prevent, hinder or interfere with him being taken back into lawful custody.”

Anyone who sees Jarreau Charles should not approach him but should dial 999. Anyone with further information about his whereabouts can also contact Thames Valley Police via the 24-hour enquiry centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police or give your name, please call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
