The taxi, a green Volkswagen Passatt, was travelling along New Road towards the city centre, when a brick was thrown through the rear driver’s side window.
This caused extensive damage to the taxi and struck the passenger, a woman in her twenties. She sustained several bruises to her chest.
PC Peter Ciechan said: “New Road on a Saturday night is a busy place with lots of people enjoying nights out.
“Did you see anyone holding or throwing bits of brick into the road? Was it one of your friends?”
