The buy-to-let market is still buoyant with a trend towards let-to-rent, according to agents.

Jane Foster, of College and County, said: “Demand for rental properties is high and we still have people who want properties for investment purposes.

“Rents are holding their own which means it is still a good bet for landlords.”

Ms Foster said College and County were seeing higher than average numbers of tenants renewing leases.

She added: “Renewal rates are high and because less tenants are moving out, that is increasing the pressure by making less properties available to let.”

The agency has also noticed a trend for let-to-rent where house owners let their properties so that they can rent elsewhere.

Mark Crampton Smith, also of College and County, said: “A lot of let-to-rent clients are not looking for top rent, they are more interested in finding the best possible tenants to look after their house.

“A lot of upwardly mobile couples who would have sold their house in London then bought here are now letting their London home out and renting in Oxfordshire instead. This is driving demand for rental upwards.”

The agent has a five-bedroom house ranged over four floors in Jericho.

It includes four shower/bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen/breakfast room and a drawing room. It is available to rent this summer for £3,750pcm.
