I felt it was important to write to address the concerns raised in the Oxford Mail article about our plans to open in Faringdon (April 14).
While we always want to ensure what we offer is of the highest quality, we know price is important. In addition to hundreds of promotions in store each month and our ‘essential Waitrose’ range, we match Tesco prices on 1,000 everyday branded products to help our shoppers save on the brands that they buy most frequently from us.
Our sales growth is also more than double that of the total supermarket sector. That we continue to achieve this during these challenging times suggests we must be offering our customers good value.
Our aim is very much to deliver a store that can provide people with a competitive offer locally and prevent them needing to go elsewhere to carry out their food shop.
James Armstrong, Waitrose
