Police today appealed for help in tracking down a prisoner who absconded from HMP Springhill in Grendon Underwood.

Jarreau Alexander Charles, 24, was serving an indeterminate sentence for false imprisonment and assault when he absconded from prison yesterday.

It is believed Charles was in the Marsh Gibbon area yesterday, although he does have connections to Oxford and Middlesex.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Police believe there is a danger of Charles re-offending and would urge anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately and not to approach him as he may be violent."

Charles is black, 6ft 7in tall, stocky and has Chinese writing tattoos on his torso.

Anyone with information about Charles’s whereabouts should contact Det Chief Insp Rebecca Mears at Aylesbury police station via the Thames Valley Police 24-hour Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505 or if you don’t want to talk to police or leave your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
