IF YOU are ever looking for a fitting tribute to any of the service personnel from Oxfordshire killed in Afghanistan, it is the spirit that lives on in their loved ones.
The relatives of those who have died in service have shown immense dignity and a wish to mark their loved ones’ passing in a way that will ensure they are not forgotten.
It may be through campaigning on issues which may have contributed to their loved ones’ deaths, or by raising money and offering support for other affected personnel and their families, but none of the people who are grieving want the death to have ultimately meant nothing.
These special deeds show that each member of the forces was a special person.
Today we report on the launch of a benevolent fund by the widow of Warrant Officer Class 2 Charles Wood.
A fundraising effort will be held outside Tesco in Pingle Drive, Bicester, next month.
If you’re passing, give what you can so that Mrs Wood knows we all value and acknowledge her husband and his sacrifice.
