FRIENDS of a teenager killed in a moped crash have called for a memorial garden in his honour.

Eddie Lynch, 16, from Kidlington, was a pupil at Warriner School in Bloxham.

He died after a grey Audi A6 car hit his stationary red Aprilia moped near Deddington on Friday night.

A group has been set up in his memory on social networking site Facebook and 1,360 people had already joined the group last night.

His sister Rose Lynch wrote: “iloveyouu forever and ever and ever and ever it will be hard 2 make the pain stop but we all need 2 stay strong 4 u.”

She called him a “beautiful, handsome happy lad” and said she wished they had had more time together.

Friend Tom Howells said: “All my love goes to your family Ed mate. Know your going to be tearing it up there. Sleep tight buddy, never going to be forgotten.”

And Kelly Bullard wrote: “You will never be forgotten, you were one amazing person and will always be in mine and everyone’s heart, I love you so much, R.I.P eddie...I’ll see you again one day.”

Many of the group members have suggested a memorial garden should be created at his school to commemorate his life.

Katie Bedwell suggested: “A tree with a plaque on it, we could sit by it in the sunshine.”

Eddie played for Deddington Town Football Club’s under-16 team.

Manager Robin Gardner said: “This is a very sore time. He was a great lad and I don’t know anyone who didn’t like him. He was that sort of kid.

“Everyone liked him and that’s the tragedy of it. It hurts that bit more.”

Mr Gardner said the fact so many people had joined the Facebook group was testament to his popularity. He added: “I can only endorse that.”

A one-minute silence was held at Saturday’s match between Deddington and Thame. There will also be another silence at the next under-16s match tomorrow.

His family have released the following tribute: "It is impossible to even begin to explain the pain we have all felt since that dark night when we lost Eddie.

“We cannot believe that our vibrant, intelligent, beautiful boy with an amazing determination in life, has been so cruelly taken away from us, when his life had barely just begun.

“He will remain in our hearts and thoughts for the rest of our lives."

The family would like anyone who wishes to make donations to Brake, the road safety charity.

The crash happened on the B4031 Clifton Road near Deddington at about 9pm on Friday.

A 52-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released on bail to return to St Aldate’s police station in Oxford on June 20.

Anyone with information about the crash should call Pc David Roberts-Ablett on 08458 505505.
