HEADINGTON could have its own annual Easter Festival set around the library in Bury Knowle Park.

Campaigners fighting to save the branch from closure staged a series of events in the park at the weekend, including an Easter bonnet competition and Palm Sunday parade, which they hope could be the beginning of an annual event.

Twenty children took part in the bonnet competition, with 11-year-old Shauna Wood walking away with first prize.

Save Headington Library supporter Christine Trueman said the community celebration showcased how the library and park could be used by residents.

She said: “We’re putting in place a range of things at the library that we think would be good to have every year.

“We would like to have a big Easter festival in the park.”
