A FEAST of live music and rare releases proved a hit for Oxford’s only independent record shop.
The Truck Store in Cowley Road joined in the international Record Store Day with a weekend of performances and the selling of limited-edition vinyl.
Oxford band The Young Kniveshad fans crammed into the shop and the pavements beyond when they played on Saturday.
Store manager Carl Smithson said: “The reaction has been pretty much universally ecstatic. Saturday was our busiest day ever and it was just an all-round party atmosphere.”
Explaining Record Store Day, he added: “The music industry provides these limited-edition releases and it stokes a bit of interest and then the shops do what we can.
“The Young Knives played an absolutely scintillating set, a full set, no acoustic sideshow, and it was a really great atmosphere. It just couldn’t have gone any better.”
