CHILDREN at a pre-school in Leafield have been enjoying the warm weather on a newly-built play surface.
The shock-absorbent rubber surface cost £10,000 to install at Leafield Pre-School, Lower End.
It features colourful geometric graphics, a road track for kids to cycle around and a hop-scotch pattern to play on.
It was financed by a grant from the National Lottery, which was applied for by the pre-school management committee.
Chairman Jane Harris said: “I think it’s amazing that a small community pre-school can get this kind of funding.
“We could never have done this without the grant, it’s way out of our budget.
“The kids love it – they’re running around like crazy – and it makes the whole area much safer.”
She said the old surface had been “tatty and worn out” and the mums felt the obligation to help.
She said: “I think it’s natural, as parents, to want to help and improve village facilities.”
The mums have now applied for a grant to buy equipment for woodland activities.
