A GROUP of talented dancers from all over the UK gathered in Oxford to put their best feet forward.

The group of 15, who are in their late teens and early 20s, took part in a residential dance project at The North Wall Arts Centre, in South Parade, Summertown, after being selected through national auditions.

Their course culminated last night in a dance performance which they had put together themselves.

Oxford-born choreographer Angus Balbernie, who directs the group, said: “The performance will be based around Angela Carter’s short stories, which are based on old folk tales about girls becoming women.

“The group has been absolutely fantastic, to put it mildly. They have been very professional and my job has just been to put the pieces together, more like a collage artist.”

Dancer Fenella Kennedy, 22, from London, pictured, front, said: “I saw the noticeon a dance website.

“It has been six months’ worth of work crammed into two weeks, but it has been amazing fun and a fantastic experience to see how people create together.”
