PHYSICAL and visual artists are taking the story of a young woman collecting her grandmother’s ashes to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Oxford-based theatre company Idle Motion has been picked by the British Council to take part this summer.

The theatre company is currently working as Artist in Residence at the Oxford Playhouse.

It has been selected along with 27 other acts and companies, out of more than 200, to perform in the Scottish capital between August 22 and 27.

Company manager Grace Chapman said: “It is absolutely amazing. It means a lot to us and all our work is coming to fruition.

“Hopefully from here we will be able to get some international tour dates from this. This is going to be a very important year for us.”

The company was formed in 2007 and uses props as a big part of their productions. One of the shows they are taking to Scotland will be The Vanishing Horizon, which tells the history of aviation via the story of a young woman going on a journey to pick up her grandmother’s ashes.

Idle Motion’s next show in Oxfordshire is at The Theatre in Chipping Norton on May 3.
