McGregor leads schoolchildren through Aston Rowant in 1984
McGREGOR the donkey was in great demand as Easter approached.
He led children from the village school at Aston Rowant, near Thame, to the parish church for their end-of-term service in April 1984.
Then a few days later, he was in action again, leading the village’s Palm Sunday procession from the Aston Park estate to the church.
The picture above shows the 60 pupils at the school and their teachers following McGregor through the streets to church.
