Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery of a security officer collecting cash from a bank in Banbury today.

The incident happened at Nat West, in Bridge Street, shortly after 12.30pm.

A security officer was attacked as he was collecting cash from the bank.

The offenders escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have located a Peugeot car in Lower Cherwell Street that police said was subject to further investigation.

Det Sgt Matthew Bick, from Banbury CID, said: “We are at the early stages of our investigation.

“At this stage we believe that the robbery was carried out by two men. We do not believe that any weapons were used in the incident.

“No one was injured in the robbery. However, it was obviously a traumatic incident for those in the area.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who witnessed the car being abandoned in Lower Cherwell Street.”
